Every year, over a eight day period in November, downtown Miami becomes the center of the literary world. This year will be the Miami Book Fair International’s 25th Anniversary. During the week of November 9th-16th, 2008, Miami will be welcoming hundreds & thousands of people who attend readings and discussions featuring prize-winning, best selling and emerging authors from the U.S. and around the world. Whites Tackle Inshore Classic
This inshore ARTIFICIALS ONLY tournament will be held September 27th, 2008. The tournament will feature tremendous cash payouts, prizes, trophies, and a perpetual trophy which will be housed at the new White’s Tackle Shop to be completed early next year. The tournament will be complete with an Old Fashioned Ft. Pierce fish fry with all the trimmings. There will be competitive anglers showing up to do battle on our famous stretch of the Indian River Lagoon.
City of Fort Pierce Celebrates with Patriotic Lights
Over 100,000 red, white and blue lights will illuminate the Fort Pierce downtown waterfront during the next six weeks. The Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency (FPRA) is sponsoring the patriotic light display beginning Memorial Day through the 4th of July Holiday at Marina Square, May 26 – July 6, 2008 from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. nightly.
The patriotic light display is synchronized to patriotic music that transforms trees and plants into moving artistic creations.

Downtown Fort Pierce Parking Garage Opens
The City’s newest public asset, the 465 space parking garage, is free and open to the public on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The parking garage and mixed-use space construction cost is $11.8 million which is funded by the City through the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency (FPRA).
The four-story, Mediterranean–revival influenced structure consists of a concrete pre-cast 156,077 square-foot open parking garage. The 30,000 square-foot mixed-use office/retail construction will be completed by the end of April 2008. [Read more →]
